For this guided process below I want you to answer one question internally before you begin, as you open yourself up to healing and wholeness:

“Where do I feel powerless or helpless in my life?”

As the answers come to you, trust that you are being divinely guided each step to reach wholeness and completion.

 

Power Over Your Programming Guided Practice

Often with food addictions, there is a strong subconscious program of of self-sabotage and powerlessness due to deep unworthiness/self-blame/self-hatred/self-loathing from external environment triggering internal subconscious programming (usually from traumas). Due to this there is a primal need/urgency for speed and power to get away from the perceived “threat”, as one reaches for food: the temporary pleasure/stuffing (to suppress feelings, due to perceived threat).

This is all connected to the thyroid (an endocrine gland that regulates metabolism amongst other important bodily functions) – with the urge for fast actions due to the sensation of powerlessness and feeling for the need for speed, the brain knows, what do I need to survive? The brain isn’t thinking, how can I thrive?

Where food can be pleasure…e.g a muffin….why are we having a second muffin?…It’s the numbing process  where one feels “I don’t want to feel I have to be in avoidance, Its too painful to feel, I will die if I feel this. I will survive if I don’t feel. I don’t feel safe.” We think “I’m stressed, I’m scared, I’m overwhelmed, I’m anxious.” But what’s really happening is “I’m not safe here.”

So the questions is…how much do you want to transform these issues at the root…do you want to be a slave to your programming.

Because you have the power to interact with your subconscious – become friends with it and not be overpowered by it, instead become one on the same side of thriving.

If you have thyroid dysfunction, with the compulsion of speed of the act itself to eat, there is a chemical imbalance which happens due to the emotional conflict.

Thyroid/Throat – powerlessness and powerless to this programming

Here’s what’s happening, and how to understand your body and brain during this process:

Powerlessness – feeding/”stuffing” urge. “If I actually spoke my full authentic self and voiced myself something bad would happen”, as this is coming from the primal brain designed purely for survival, the main belief here is fear of death from expressing themselves. Thats where the thyroid comes in. Because the body is responding perfectly to the emotions that are at play. There is a massive safety and survival issue being “If I speak my truth something bad would happen. I’m going to get yelled at rejected, abandoned, neglected etc” – to the primal brain, this equals “death”.

Thyroid gland is all about speed – “I have to make moves as fast as I can to protect myself.” and with a food addiction, the food is a replacement for the “missing love” and used as a coping mechanism where one would then feel “I have control over this.”

The core piece is around love, knowing how powerful and loved you are, to have the deepest compassion for yourself, and being able to feel safe around love.
